PAINTED WALLS MATERIALS RELEASED

A 3 new painted walls materials have just been added to the marketplace store!

Painted walls textures are very useful for builders making traditional of expensive looking homes. They add a touch of class, without being heavy on prims.

Unlike most existing painted walls textures on the marketplace, these textures were entirely modelled in 3D and then converted into diffuse, normal and specular layers. This gives much more sense of depth and means they react dynamically to lighting!

I’ve also included my light projectors pack (usually 99L$) at no additional cost, because I’d like to encourage more people to use the SL light projection system. Personally I would recommend using these projectors instead of a baked in lighting, as it fits in much better with your overall build.

Please note that over the next week or so I’ll be concentrating on making painted walls, as well as a range of wallpaper designs to fit these 3D renders. But don’t worry, I’ll be returning to my usual broad-spectrum of eclectic work soon enough!

The Edition 3 texture pack will be on 10L$ sale until tomorrow. Please remember to leave a review, as it helps other builders find my work!

wicker

WICKER MATERIAL RELEASED

A new wicker weave material has just been added to the marketplace store!

Wicker textures are used all over Second Life, and particularly in Tiki beach themed sims. They can be used for furniture, buildings or sim decoration.

Unlike existing wicker textures on the marketplace, this material was not created from an initial photograph. Instead it was entirely modelled in 3D. This gives much more sense of depth as well as a higher resolution in the final result!

This texture pack will be on 10L$ sale until tomorrow. Please remember to leave a review, as it helps other builders find my work!

corrugated metal

Corrugated Metal Material Released

A new corrugated metal material has just been added to the marketplace store!

There’s a lot of corrugated metal textures being used in Second Life. Their usage ranges from grungy industrial sims, to tiki beach huts.

Unfortunately, up until now builders have been pretty much forced to use flat looking basic textures, since using mesh geometry for large complex surfaces like this would be very expensive for land impact. With the introduction of a material for corrugated metal that will no longer be a problem!

This texture pack will be on 10L$ sale until tomorrow. Please remember to leave a review, as it helps other builders find my work!

chain link

Chain Link Fencing Material Released!

Today I’ve added a new material to the marketplace store!

I noticed there’s a distinct lack of good chain link fencing textures and no material versions available.

chain link render

To be honest I can certainly see why, as the development of this material was actually rather difficult. The process required modelling the wires in 3D and then a considerable amount of post-processing in photoshop to achieve the required effect!

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy your new fences. This texture will be on 10L$ sale until tomorrow. Please remember to leave a review as it helps other builders find my work!

roman tiles

Roman Tiles Material Released!

Today I’ve decided to add a roman roof tiles material to the marketplace store!

One of the biggest let downs of mesh is that it creates too much land impact when modelling complex surfaces such as roofs. Therefore most builders get stuck using flat looking textures on top of their beautiful, and otherwise extremely intricate, mesh houses.

To resolve this dilemma I’ve created roman tiles in 3D and then baked them onto a material texture. This provides a three-dimensional appearance without any additional land impact!

This is the first of a planned series of roof textures. Hopefully we can enjoy some much better looking roofs in Second Life from now on.

This texture will be on 10L$ sale until tomorrow. Please remember to leave a review as it helps other builders find my work!

New Blog!

Since I came back to texturing in Second Life a few weeks ago I’ve been inundated with people looking to get in contact with me and learn about my upcoming products.

It seems people are becoming quite excited for how professional quality textures, and more importantly materials, can improve Second Life!

Therefore I’ve set up this blog, which I’ll keep updated with:

  • News about my latest marketplace releases.
  • Information about best practices regarding texture use in Second Life.
  • Some insight into the work I do and how I create the highest quality textures and materials in Second Life.

But most importantly, this will provided a much needed platform for me to make regular contact with my customers. I want to learn as much as I can from you guys!
